Submission: ACCC inquiry into competitiveness of retail prices for standard groceries
Posted on 14. Aug, 2009 by PatR in Submissions
In 2008 the Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Competition asked the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to hold a public inquiry into the competitiveness of retail prices for standard groceries. In its submission to the inquiry, the Sydney Food Fairness Alliance expressed concern about the difficulties that many low-income and other disadvantaged households experience accessing affordable food and promoted the introduction of mandatory unit pricing. The SFFA also commented on the impact of the Horticultural Code of Conduct and the difficulty experienced by small growers.
