In 2008 a Select Committee was established to enquire into food production that is a)affordable to consumers, b)viable for production by farmers and c)of sustainable impact on the environment.

The SFFA submission focused on 3 key themes: 1) addressing food insecurity

2) Promoting food production within Sydney and 3) planning in the Sydney Region to promote sustainable Sydney and support peri-urban agriculture.
